Meet our tutors
Kate French
After a previous career in financial marketing, Kate began her English teaching career with International House in Poland, where she worked for two years before moving to South America and settling in Buenos Aires in 1995. She worked as Assistant Director of Studies and Director of Studies at International House Buenos Aires before becoming a CELTA tutor for IH Buenos Aires and a Cambridge English CELTA Assessor for South America. She also currently coordinates in-company classes for IH Buenos Aires. Kate holds a BA in Humanities and the Cambridge English RSA DTEFLA. She has written teaching resources and training sessions for IHWO; is a Cambridge Assessment English oral and IELTS examiner and a regular speaker at EFL conferences throughout Argentina and South America.
Neil McMahon
After a brief stint in a record shop in London, Neil started teaching English in Prague in 1997. Four years later he came to South America and International House Buenos Aires, teaching at IH Recoleta for two years before moving across town to IH Belgrano as the ADoS. He was Director of Studies at the school for four and a half years but now works as the Head of Teacher Training, tutoring on Celta and Delta courses and coordinating all of our teacher training. Neil is also the IHWO Academic Coordinator for Resources and DoS Support, which means he is responsible for developing and editing resources and materials for schools across the International House affiliate network and providing day to day support for the Academic Managers around the affiliation. In addition, Neil is a qualified tutor for the IHWO Online Teacher Training Institute, and regularly works on a variety of courses including Delta One Exam Preparation courses. He regularly presents at international conferences both face to face and online, has published teaching resources for IH and Macmillan and is also an IH Quality Inspector and a Cambridge English Delta Assessor.
Fran Padilla
Fran has lived permanently in Buenos Aires since coming to South America in 1982. After working for many years at International House Recoleta as DoS, ADoS and Coordinator for kids’ classes, she now works for IH Buenos Aires as a Celta and Delta tutor. Fran has a degree in English and French from Cardiff University and acquired the Cambridge RSA DTEFLA at IH London in 1985. She is a qualified tutor for the International House Certificate in Teaching Younger Learners and has extensive experience as a Cambridge Team Leader and IELTS examiner. She has also written teaching resources for Macmillan.
